New Parts

Well the upgrades have begun! The 1125r is a fantastically fast bike stock. But, because of idiot government agencies, and the morons we elect to Lord over us, manufacturers have to meet stringent requirements. Meeting these requirements ALWAYS causes a loss of horsepower and torque. Things that you need if you want to go fast. And I like to go fast. So we solved this problem by contacting Erik Buell Racing and ordering some of his latest go fast goodies. It's been just over a year since Harley Davidson shut down Buell and while I was pretty upset when it happened, it's probably the best thing to ever happen to Erik Buell.

Anyway, we ordered and installed the Race ECM, HMF racing exhaust, and performed a noidectomy. A noidectomy is the removal of a solenoid that Buell had to install in order to meet some ignorant government regulation. The result of this was that while the bike ran fine and met what ever stupid regulation it was supposed too, it would fall all over itself if you were riding in third gear and needed to go wot (wide open throttle). Which was actually pretty dangerous if you were doing something like oh..say passing a car and another vehicle was coming or you just really needed to avoid something in a hurry. So, Erik Buell, Motorcycling Super Genius, developed a little plug to fix the problem. I'm sure my bike no longer meets many government standards now. But hey, it's a race bike. That I'm fixing to ride back to work. I hope the Gestapo doesn't come over after I post this.

Anyway, the transformation from fast to "what the hell was that" has begun. Next on the list is wheelie bars, an air shifter, and of course, nitrous oxide.

All Harley Drag Racing

Went to Rockingham Dragway to check out the All Harley Drags (and next years competition). Had a great time and was happy to see that Buells are really well represented. It looks like we will be the only team in the series racing the 1125 platform, which doesn't use a Harley derived engine.

Here's a Top Fuel vid. These things are awesome. Burning Nitro Methane, it's like riding a bomb.

At the Strip

Took the Buell to the strip for the first time. Times were terrible, but I wasn't too unhappy with them since I haven't been on a drag strip in 20 years. Thankfully, I'm leaving a lot of my time on the track at the line, which means that improvement in my reaction times and the way I ride will bring my 1/4 mile times down dramatically. And those lower times will be free!

Welcome!

Motorcycle racing has always been a dream of mine. But like so many of the dreams we have, life has always gotten in the way. But now, life (and my wife) have tossed me an opportunity to give it a try.

We love Buells, and we will race the 1125R platform. We look forward to racing the All Harley Drag Racing circuit.
